The Tri-Region Coalition, consisting of Northwest Arkansas, the City of Fort Smith, and Metroplan, was awarded the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Metroplan serves as the lead agency for this initiative, managing the overall project and administering pass-through grants to the three participating regions.
As part of its strategic priorities, the Coalition identified trail construction as a key measure to help achieve its environmental goals. This initiative is designed to reduce vehicle miles traveled (VMT) and lower greenhouse gas emissions, supporting a more sustainable and connected transportation network across the region.
