Special Programs

The Court has some programs available to keep a violation off your state driving record.

What if I have a CDL?

If you hold a Commercial Driver’s license (CDL), pursuant to Federal/State law, you are not eligible for a program to keep a violation off your driving record.

What violations are eligible for these programs?

Only moving violations are eligible for a program that will keep a violation off your driving record. If you were involved in an accident, the accident may still appear on your state record.

Will the violation appear on my record?

If you plead guilty, you are eligible for one of the following programs, and if you complete that program successfully, the charge(s) will be dismissed and will not go on your state driving record.

What if I fail to complete the requirements of my program?

If you fail to complete all of the requirements for the program assigned to you (such as not paying your fine), a warrant for your arrest will be issued, your driver’s license will be suspended, the charges will NOT be dismissed and they WILL go on your state driving record. You may also incur additional fines and/or fees.

What are the available programs?

  • Civil Penalty: If you have no offenses on your driving record for the last three (3) years, have a valid driver’s license and no failure to appears, you are most likely eligible for this program. You must plead guilty and pay a fine and court costs. After the fine and costs are paid, the charge will be dismissed and will not go on your state driving record.
  • Civil Penalty with Driving School: If you have one (1) moving violation on your driving record within the last three (3) years, a valid driver’s license and no failure to appears, you are most likely eligible for this program. You must come to the court clerk’s office to sign up for this program. There will be a fine and court costs and you will have to attend a Defensive Driving School. Once you complete these requirements, the charge will be dismissed and will not go on your state driving record.
  • Teen 1 Probation: Teen 1 is available to minors, seventeen (17) and younger who have received their first moving violation. Teens must appear in court with a parent or guardian on the date and time listed on the ticket. If the program is completed successfully, the violation will not go on the teen’s driving record.
