We Love Our Volunteers!
Every agency knows the importance and impact of volunteers. We invite you to explore these opportunities with us!
You can help us with projects in our parks including organized park cleanups or individual tasks. We can always use some help picking up litter and leaves. Some of our volunteers bring their painting, gardening or building skills to us!
We count on volunteers at our community centers to coach youth athletic leagues, tutor in our after school programs and teach activities.
There are many ways to be involved with us as a volunteer.
If you have an idea or questions, just give us call.
The success and livelihood of this non-budgeted City program depends on active volunteer participation from neighborhood associations, community groups, and individuals.
The Adopt-A-Park Program offers interested participants the opportunity to contribute to the community and share their special talents by working together in community and supporting staff in organized horticultural activities.
Opportunities include planting and maintaining strategically located flower beds and gardens, supporting horticultural greenhouse operations and participating in other organized park maintenance tasks throughout the park system.
Little Rock Parks & Recreation oversees and maintains in excess of 5,000 developed and undeveloped acres of parkland in 62 parks with limited resources. Available adoptable areas are in numerous park locations in and around Little Rock.

Volunteer Park Ranger Program
Volunteer Park Rangers are an elite group of passionate community builders who believe Little Rock’s park system can be safer for all visitors. Rangers represent our Parks and Recreation Department as ambassadors, stewards and protectors by welcoming park visitors and answering their questions, beautifying our green spaces by picking up litter and reporting maintenance issues, and deterring and reporting negative activity. If you want to increase the quality of life in Little Rock via our park system, then be a Volunteer Park Ranger!
The first step towards certification is to fill out the application and background check found below. Once processed, you will be contacted by the Park Ranger to schedule the orientation and training sessions consisting of the flora and fauna in our parks, CPR certification, and Non-conflict Mediation Techniques. Once you graduate, you will receive three hats, three shirts, a pair of shorts, a pair of pants, a belt, a lanyard and a 3-in-1 jacket all at no cost to you!
Do you like to bike? Then take it a step further and roll as a Cycling Ranger! Once you complete the Bicycle Safety Class, you can take home an official Volunteer Park Ranger bicycle and jersey.
Our parks are calling your name!
