Assistant Chief Wayne Bewley
Assistant Chief Wayne Bewley is a twenty-eight (28) year veteran of the Little Police Department. He currently holds the rank of Assistant Chief of Police and is in command of the Investigative Bureau. His law enforcement career began in 1986 as a Police Cadet. He was promoted to the rank of Police Officer in 1988. As a patrol officer he was assigned to the Downtown Patrol Division and on special patrol unit “Overlap Squad” to handle calls for police services during the evening shift change. He was assigned to the Detective Division in 1993 and worked as a Burglary Detective and an Arson Investigator. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1994 and worked as a first-line supervisor in the Patrol Division, and as a Crime Prevention Sergeant and as an In-Service Training Sergeant in the Training Division. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1998 and assigned as a Shift Commander in the Patrol Division and later as a Training Division Lieutenant. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2001 and assigned as an Administrative Captain, Detective Division Captain, Training Division Captain, and Downtown Patrol Division Captain. Assistant Chief Bewley was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief of Police in 2012. He has attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Supervision, Law Enforcement Leadership Training by the United States Attorney’s Office, Arkansas Leader Training by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Criminal Justice Institute, United States Secret Service Dignitary Protective School, and is a graduate of the 212th session of the F.B.I. National Academy and various other law enforcement training schools. He is a member of the Little Rock Fraternal Order of Police, The International Association of Chiefs of Police, and The F.B.I. National Academy Associates.
