On Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11:51 p.m., Northwest Patrol Officers responded to a shooting at the referenced address. Officers arrived on scene just after midnight, July 19, 2025, and made contact with 26-year-old Cortez Price who stated he shot his girlfriend in the head. He was immediately taken into custody without incident. Officers then located 25-year-old Effie Guajardo on the back porch unresponsive, from an apparent gunshot wound. It was later determined she was deceased. The scene was secured and LRPD Homicide Detectives were notified and responded. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the deceased body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the next of kin was notified.

Homicide Detectives along with the Crime Scene Search Unit responded and began a preliminary investigation. After transporting Cortez Price to the Major Crimes Division, he was questioned and eventually charged with Capital Murder and transported to PCRJ. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Northwest Division.
