LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 22, 2016) – The City of Little Rock will again welcome Consul General of Guatemala Jose Barillas and his staff to Little Rock from July 30 - 31 as they hold a mobile consulate to provide assistance to Guatemalans living in the area.

This is the second visit from the consulate in a year. A successful visit in September saw hundreds of residents receive services such as consular ID cards.

The mobile consulate will be set up at the Southwest Community Center the following dates and times:

  • Saturday, July 30, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, July 31, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The Southwest Community Center is located at 6401 Baseline Road.

The 2010 U.S. Census showed that 6.8%, or nearly 13,000, of people making their home in Little Rock are of Hispanic origin, which includes those of Guatemalan descent. Bringing the mobile consulate to Little Rock will allow Guatemalan residents with the proper paperwork to get passports, consular ID cards, or birth registrations. The birth registration is free.

According to officials from the Guatemalan Consulate in Houston, the requirements to obtain a passport or consulate card include one of the following:

  • Identity card or
  • DPI (Personal Identification Document) or
  • Birth certificate issued by RENAP and passport

Fees may be paid with a Money Order or cash:

  • Passport $65.00
