At 5:31 am, on Thursday, July 17, 2025, patrol officers with the Southwest Division responded to a shooting at 7718 Morris Drive. Officers arrived and discovered 19-year-old Tarell Rice Jr., and 42-year-old Tina Williams, both of Little Rock, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. MEMS and RESCUE responded and transported Williams to a local hospital for further medical treatment. Rice was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers secured the area and notified Homicide Detectives. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the deceased body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and next of kin was notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Southwest Division.
