Patrol Officers with the Southwest Division responded to 8277 Geyer Springs Road for a shooting call for service at 7:54 p.m., on September 6, 2025. Emergency Communications advised the victim, later identified as 46-year-old Anthony King, was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and being transported to a local hospital via personal vehicle. Officers responded to the hospital and made contact with Mr. King who stated he was in a verbal altercation with an adult male subject who pulled a firearm and shot him in the upper torso. At the time, Mr. King was in stable condition from his injury. Subsequently, officers secured the crime scene.  Supervisors from the Southwest Division and Major Crimes responded and began an investigation. During the investigation, a suspect was developed.

On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 3:50 pm, King succumbed to injuries at a local hospital. Homicide Detectives were notified and responded. The Pulaski County Coroner responded and transported the body to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy and next of kin was notified. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Southwest Division.
