LITTLE ROCK (Nov. 21, 2017) - A twenty-two year veteran of the Memphis Fire Department has been named the next Little Rock Fire Chief. City Manager Bruce T. Moore today announced his selection of Delphone D. Hubbard as Chief of the Little Rock Fire Department.

"In searching for a Fire Chief, I was looking for someone who is dedicated to fire safety and community involvement," said Moore. "After conducting a national search, I am pleased to have found that person in Chief Hubbard. He has the experience and the skills necessary to step in and lead the Little Rock Fire Department to greater success."

Moore continued, "During this search process I have had in-depth conversations with Chief Hubbard about fire service. I look forward to continuing these conversations as he serves the citizens of Little Rock," Moore said. "I know Little Rock will join me in welcoming Chief Hubbard, his wife and daughter."

After joining Memphis Fire Services in 1995, Chief Hubbard rose through the ranks. Since 2016, he has served as a Division Chief. From 2010 to 2016 he was a Battalion Chief. Prior to that he served as a Fire Private/Emergency Medical Technician and later as a Firefighting Lieutenant.

Chief Hubbard assumes leadership of a department which has achieved both national accreditation through the Commission of Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) as well as Class One status from the Insurance Service Office (ISO). The Little Rock Fire Department is one of 55 out of over 29,000 departments to have achieved both of these national recognitions. Founded in 1881, the Little Rock Fire Department traces its roots to the City's first volunteer fire department in 1840.

Chief Hubbard succeeds Chief Gregory L. Summers, who announced his retirement in August 2017 after leading the Little Rock Fire Department since May 2009.
