Construction of Railroad Overpass to close Geyer Springs Road Between 65th Street and Mabelvale Pike

Beginning on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, Geyer Springs Road between 65th Street and Mabelvale Pike will be closed to through traffic to allow for construction of a new railroad overpass at the Union Pacific mainline.  Construction of retaining walls for the new bridge approaches will require closure near Hutsell Road north of the railroad tracks and Frozen Road south of the tracks.  No through traffic will be allowed on this segment of Geyer Springs Road.

 

Detour Route Information
Northbound through traffic on Geyer Springs Road will be detoured to westbound 65th Street to northbound University Avenue to eastbound Mabelvale Pike. Southbound Geyer Springs through traffic will be detoured to westbound Mabelvale Pike, to southbound University Avenue to eastbound 65th Street.

All residents and businesses that take access from Geyer Springs Road will be provided access at all times, however, signage will be in place restricting access on Geyer Springs Road between 65th Street and Mabelvale Pike to local traffic only.  Barricades, warning signs and message boards will be installed on Geyer Springs Road to inform motorists of the closure and the detour routes.  The closure is expected to last through April 2020 when the new bridge will be opened to traffic.
