Southwest units were dispatched to 4809 W 65th St for a vehicle vs pedestrian collision at 7:54 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Upon arrival they observed a vehicle in the parking lot of the U-Haul and a pedestrian, later identified as 33-year-old Lorenzo Mateo, in the roadway. MEMS responded and transported Mateo to a local hospital. Mateo succumbed to his injuries on October 12, 2025. Supervisors arrived on scene and later notified Accident Reconstruction Officers who responded to process the scene, took photographs, and collected evidence. At this point in the investigation, no charges have been filed pending a comprehensive review. This investigation is ongoing.
