LITTLE ROCK – Continuing a tradition more than 15 years old, the Little Rock Fire Department is collecting donations for children in the foster care of the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) and is requesting community help with donations.

Every holiday season, the Little Rock Fire Department partners with DHS to collect toys for the boys and girls that are currently in the foster care program. The fire department uses its fire stations across the city as collection sites for drop-off donations. In addition to the fire station donation sites, Little Rock Firefighters will be holding a series of in-person collections at participating Walmart stores.

Collection dates:

Friday, Dec. 3, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 4, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Friday Dec. 10, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 11, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

The following Walmart stores will be participating:

8801 Baseline Road

2700 S. Shackleford Road

19301 Cantrell Road

700 Bowman Road

The last day to donate will be Wednesday, Dec. 15. On Thursday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m., Little Rock Firefighters will join Santa in a short parade from the Central Fire Station at 7th and Chester streets to the DHS office at 1105 Doctor MLK Jr. Drive, where they will deliver donations and be met with caroling and holiday cheer.
