Residents are advised to always have non-perishable food items, bottled fresh water and batteries on hand in preparation for emergency events like severe weather.

The Little Rock Fire Department will be helping the nonprofit Reach Out during its 12th Annual Christmas Caravan taking place Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Clinton Presidential Library parking lot. Breakfast will be served at 7 a.m., with the caravan coming in at 8 a.m. to distribute clothing, blankets, toiletries and other items to homeless and low-income residents.

The Salvation Army at 1111 W. Markham St. also operates a warming shelter when the temperature drops below 32 degrees. Call 374-9296 for hours of availability.
