LITTLE ROCK – While the COVID infections reported in Little Rock and across Arkansas continue to be at extremely high levels, Mayor Frank Scott, Jr., is assuring Little Rock residents that City services will continue. However, he cautions residents to have patience when it comes to non-emergency services.
 
“Clearly, Public Safety calls will remain a priority and be answered promptly,” said Mayor Scott, who explained that police buildings have temporarily closed to the public but continue to take all calls and online reports. “There may also be some unexpected delays in solid waste pick-up, bulky item removal, code enforcement visits, and property inspections. Recreational programming has been temporarily postponed.”
 
The Mayor continued, “Just as in the general population, our City employees are facing COVID cases themselves and in their families, requiring isolation or other unplanned absences. At times we may have fewer employees present in certain departments, which could temporarily slow our ability to provide services immediately. For instance, if your garbage pickup is missed one day, we will get it the next day. As always, you can call 311 to report a missed service. Please have patience with our public servants.”
 
On January 7, Mayor Scott announced that, due to the sudden, steep rise in COVID infections reported in Little Rock and across Arkansas, all meetings of City boards and commissions will be held virtually until further notice. While most City facilities remain open to the public, including community centers and the Jim Daily Fitness and Aquatic Center, masks must be worn and temperature checks are required upon entrance. Organized meetings, events, classes and programming, including senior programming, in the Parks and Recreation Department is postponed until further notice for the safety of participants.
 
“We thank Little Rock residents for their patience at this trying time, which we hope is very temporary,” added Scott. “We remain committed to providing services in a manner that ensures not only the safety of our residents, but also of our employees.”
