Public Notice
City of Little Rock Public Relations (501) 371-6801

On Saturday July 5, 2025, at 5:02 p.m., officers from the Northwest Division responded to a call for service at the above location. Upon arrival, officers contacted the complainant who reported hearing gunshots coming from the area of 11763 Southridge Drive. Officers heard yelling and screaming as they approached the home. Officers then established a perimeter around the residence and encountered a subject, later identified as 43-year-old Brent Gilbert, behind the home. Gilbert raised and pointed a firearm at officers causing them to fire at him. Gilbert then retreated inside of the home and to the front door where he pointed the firearm at another officer, resulting in shots being fired. Ultimately, officers were able to de-escalate the situation and convince Gilbert to exit the residence where he was taken into custody without further incident. MEMS responded and Gilbert was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
After his release from the hospital, Gilbert was transported to the Major Crimes Division where he was read his Miranda rights and gave a statement. He admitted to being in possession of a firearm when he confronted officers and firing the weapon in the backyard. Following his interview, Gilbert was transported to the Pulaski County Regional Detention Center where he was charged with four counts of Aggravated Assault.
This is an ongoing investigation and since this incident involved officers discharging service weapons, an internal investigation has begun. A separate criminal investigation is also underway. Both officers have been placed on administrative leave.
The suspect is Brent Gilbert:
The officers involved are as follows:
Officer Tamara Wynn joined the department August 12, 2024.
