On Friday, September 9, 2022, just before 9:45 P.M., officers responded to a Shot Spotter activation near the 1000 block of S. Van Buren Street. In addition to the Shot Spotter activation, several calls to 911 were received reporting shots being fired in the area of 12th Street and Jonesboro. Responding officers arrived, and located Aukemian Spencer (B/M DOB 09/24/2003), in the driver seat of a white SUV suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medical personnel was requested and rendered aid, however, Aukemian was pronounced deceased on scene. Two other occupants in this vehicle were suffering from gunshot wounds. Both received medical attention and are listed in stable condition.

While investigating this incident, officers and detectives were informed of a vehicle struck by gunfire and two of the occupants were at Children's Hospital receiving medical treatment for minor injuries. The occupants in this vehicle were two adults and a 17 year old juvenile. The occupants were reportedly injured as a result of debris.

Homicide Detectives and the LRPD Crimes Scene Search Unit responded to perform a neighborhood canvass of the immediate area and collected any items of evidentiary value. Detectives have determined this incident to be isolated and there is not an immediate threat in this area surrounding this incident.

This investigation is ongoing and the next of kin has been notified.
