Yard waste collection in Little Rock will be suspended for the rest of this week to ensure enough solid waste trucks are available for garbage collection.

Bulky item pickups are still being automatically coordinated through the 311 system, although the number of scheduled on-call pickups per day has been reduced so that those trucks also can be used for garbage collection.

According to Public Works staff, more garbage trucks will be added to the fleet in short order. Last month, the Board of Directors approved the purchase of eight new side loader garbage trucks. Four of those trucks may be ready for use as early as next week.
