LITTLE ROCK – The City of Little Rock will host community meetings in every Ward this month for Mayor Frank Scott, Jr., and city officials to lay out their vision for a stronger, more prosperous Little Rock through a sales tax initiative focused on public safety, infrastructure, quality-of-life improvements and economic development.

Mayor Scott is inviting all Little Rock residents to attend one of the meetings to learn about the sales tax plan that will bring better Results for The Rock. The first in the series of public meetings is Thursday, May 2, at 6 p.m. in Ward 5. That meeting is at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 4501 Rahling Road.

The tax plan will focus on what Mayor Scott calls the "four Ps": Public Safety, Public Infrastructure, Parks and Recreation, and the Port of Little Rock. Under the proposal, each of those pillars will be allocated additional sales tax money to fund transformational projects and support needed improvements.

"We are committed to safer streets and to stronger neighborhoods, which means we must continue to achieve better results for Little Rock residents," Mayor Scott said. "This tax plan invests in advanced technology and innovation for our police department, creates much-needed new recreational opportunities for our children and youth, supports efforts to sustain our streets and drainage infrastructure, and capitalizes on one of our most important economic development assets, the Port of Little Rock. For our City to truly be a catalyst for the new South, we must make the investments that help us reach our full potential."

Residents will learn details about the tax proposal during the community meetings, and there will be an opportunity for questions and feedback.
