Civil Service Commission

The Civil Service Commission was created by Arkansas Code Annotated 14-51-201 et. seq. - Little Rock City Code, Section 2-112. Each of the commission's seven (7) members serve six (6)-year terms. The Civil Service Commission is responsible for the establishment of promotional procedure guidelines, hearing of citizen complaints against sworn police and fire personnel and the hearing of disciplinary appeals of sworn police and fire personnel. Members must be residents of Little Rock for more than three (3) years and must complete a questionnaire when applying for a position.

TERM: Six (6) years
MEMBERS: Seven (7)
DUTIES: The Commission is responsible for personnel policy, merit system rules and regulations and employee/candidate appeals within authority established by Arkansas Statute and City Ordinance for Civil Service employees.
SELECTION: A member must be a resident of Little Rock for more than three (3) years and must complete a questionnaire when applying for a position.
