You are invited to our upcoming meeting to discuss a 1.4-mile section of the Southwest Trail from the Arkansas State Fairgrounds to Central High School. The sponsor of the project is Pulaski County. The proposed trail will be a 12-foot wide paved path separated from vehicular traffic that will begin at the State Fairgrounds and end at the Central High School National Historic Site at the intersection of S. Park Street and Daisy Gatson Bates Drive. The southern part of this trail segment will be constructed through green spaces on the east side of the Union Pacific Railroad, then enter the city street right of way at Jones Street, travel east on w. 16th Street and thence north on S. Park Street to the Historic Site. On-street sections will be constructed with a painted buffer and bollards to separate cyclists from motor vehicles. Judges, City and County officials will be present to take comments and answer questions that may arise.
