LITTLE ROCK – With extremely cold weather forecasted, the City of Little Rock is mobilizing its temporary, overnight emergency shelter on Saturday, Jan. 17.
The shelter will open at 8 p.m. Saturday at Dunbar Community Center, 1001 W. 16th St.
City officials will actively monitor weather conditions to determine whether to mobilize the shelter for additional nights during the forecasted period of below-normal temperatures.
The current National Weather Service forecast calls for a low of 18 degrees overnight Saturday with the wind chill index near 12 degrees.
The temporary shelter is open to anyone in need of a warm, safe place to stay. No identification is required at the shelter, and pets are allowed in kennels provided by Little Rock Animal Village.
