On Saturday, March 16, 2024, patrol officers with the Southwest Division responded to a subject down at 7100 Lancaster. Upon arrival, officers discovered 30-year-old Leonard Jones suffering from apparent gun shot wounds. MEMS responded and transported Jones to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Subsequently, the scene was secured and Homicide Detectives were notified. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the deceased body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and next of kin was notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Southwest Division.
