On August 12, 2023, patrol officers with the Little Rock Police Department responded to a shooting at #3 Richsmith Circle just after 3:30 a.m. Officers arrived and discovered 16-year-old Darrin Williams and a second juvenile suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. MEMS and RESCUE responded and transported juvenile #2 to a local hospital. Williams succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Subsequently, Officers secured the scene and notified Homicide Detectives who responded. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the body of Mr. Williams to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy and next of kin was notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Southwest Division.
