South Jefferson Street Homicide)

On Sunday, June 19th, 2022, at 2:41 A.M., officers with the Little Rock Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter Activation in the area of 1321 S. Jefferson Street. Officers performed a search of the area, locating a person suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medical personnel was notified and responded to the scene, later pronouncing the person as deceased.

Homicide Detectives and the LRPD Crimes Scene Search Unit responded to perform a neighborhood canvass of the immediate area and collect any items of evidentiary value. After preliminary investigation, the victim’s identity was undetermined and the body was transported by the Pulaski County Coroner's Office to the Arkansas State Crime Lab. An Autopsy and testing for positive identification will be completed.  Detectives have determined this incident to be isolated and there is not immediate threat in the area surrounding this incident.

This investigation is ongoing and the next of kin has not been determined to be notified. Update:

The victim in this homicide has been identified as Isaiah Smith, 19 years old, of Sherwood, AR.  Mr. Smith was the person being sought for outstanding warrants for the shooting on Labette Manor that occurred on June 9th, 2022. This investigation is ongoing.
