Plastic Bag Recycling

PLASTIC BAGS ARE NOT ACCEPTED IN RESIDENTIAL CURBSIDE RECYCLING!

Why are plastic bags not accepted?

Any soft plastic film (plastic you can stretch with your hands) gets tangled in the equipment at the recycling sorting facility, automatically shutting down equipment.

What type of plastic bags are not accepted?

Please do not put any type of plastic bag in your recycling cart.

So how can I recycle plastic bags?

You can recycle clean plastic bags by taking them to the Green Station. Kroger, Wal-Mart, and Target also typically have containers located inside the entrance for plastic bag collection.

At these special drop-off locations, you can include grocery bags (the regular plastic bags you pack your groceries in), produce bags (the smaller bags you get in the produce section), bubble wrap, newspaper bags, plastic outer wrap of toilet paper/paper towels, plastic outer wrap from a pallet of water bottles or soda, plastic tortilla bags, and the clear bags inside cereal or snack boxes. Make sure to recycle the box in your regular curbside bin!

If you have a stretchy plastic you're not sure about, don't hesitate to contact our office!
