Large Appliance Recycling

Large appliances, especially ones with refrigerants, can be a hassle to dispose of properly. You can make sure that your unwanted large appliances are recycled by disposing of them through the City of Little Rock's Solid Waste division. Our Solid Waste division makes sure that the metal in these large appliances is recycled and that any refrigerants are properly removed.

Many appliances have refrigerants in them and are not accepted by metal recycling companies without proof the refrigerants have been removed. It is difficult to safely remove refrigerants from these items, so let your Solid Waste division handle it for you! Learn more about the dangers of refrigerants on this EPA web page.

Appliances with refrigerants:

  • air conditioning units (portable, window unit, and full size)
  • deep freezers
  • dehumidifiers
  • humidifiers
  • refrigerators

Our Solid Waste Division will also recycle large appliances that do not contain refrigerants, like

  • clothes dryers
  • furnace
  • stove/oven
  • trash compactor
  • washing machines
  • water heaters

There are two ways to dispose of these items at the landfill.

1) You can request a large appliance pick up using our 311 service. Click here to learn more about 311.

You will need to request an "appliance pick up" using our 311 service. You will be provided a scheduled pick up day. Make sure to have your items at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on your scheduled pick up day.

2) If you are worried that someone might take your appliance from the curb and improperly remove the refrigerants then bring your large appliances to us! You can drop large appliances off for free during the landfill's operating hours at 10801 Ironton Cutoff in Little Rock, 72206.
