Plastic Recycling
What plastics are accepted?
Please only recycle plastics that are #1 or #2 and are bottles. Recycle water and soda bottles, detergent bottles, liquid soap containers, peanut butter jars, and other similar items. See below for a longer list of items you can recycle.
If it's not listed here, it doesn't belong in your curbside bin! For items not listed here, check out the Green Station and Special Items pages, or contact the Sustainability Office at 501-371-4646, or recycle@littlerock.gov.
Plastic drink bottles are usually #1 and sometimes #2 plastic. These are high quality plastics that are economical to recycle. You can put these in your recycle cart!
Bleach bottles and other cleaning solution bottles are usually #2 plastics. You can put these in your recycle cart once they are empty!
You can recycle milk jugs! Just make sure they are empty before you place them in your cart.
Peanut butter jars are usually a #2 plastic. As long as they are clean you can recycle them!
Coffee creamer containers are usually #1 plastic. As long as they are empty you can put these in your recycle cart.

Over the counter medicine bottles are usually #1 or #2 plastic. You can put these in your recycle cart.
Nail polish remover containers are usually #2 plastic. Make sure the container is empty before you put it in your recycle cart.
As long as your shampoo/body wash container is a #1 or #2 rigid plastic you can put it in your recycle cart when it is empty.
Common mistakes we see in recycling bins . . .
Sour cream, yogurt, and other similar containers are not accepted, even if they are a #1 or #2 plastic. Save these and bring them to our next

Plastic bags tangle the machinery at the recycling facility. You can take plastic bags back to the Green Station or your grocery store for recycling.
Never put any single-use cup that you get at a restaurant, coffee shop, etc in your recycle cart. Instead, bring your own cup for coffee or to-go drinks.
Never put any utensils or straws in your recycle cart.
Never put any type of to-go container in your recycle cart. Instead, bring your own reusable to-go container to the restaurant.
Prescription medicine bottles are usually a #5 plastic, please do not put these in your recycle cart.
Never put squeeze bottles like the ones above in your recycle cart, even if they have the #1 or #2 on them.
Never put any type of styrofoam in your recycle cart.
