LITTLE ROCK –  With abnormally high temperatures expected over the next few days, the City of Little Rock is opening cooling centers at four City community centers starting today for any residents who need relief from the heat.

Cooling Center locations are:

• Dunbar Community Center, 1001 W. 16th St.
• East Little Rock Community Center, 2500 E. Sixth St.
• Southwest Community Center, 6401 Baseline Road
• Stephens Community Center, 3720 W. 18th St.

A safe, comfortable space for a respite from the heat will be provided at each location until 6 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Friday. 

City officials will continue to monitor weather forecasts throughout the summer to determine whether to open cooling centers during any other periods of extreme heat and humidity.
